Sky high

Went to the mountains this year. Had a blast. Rode into Nubra. Ticked another corner of the earth off. Was a hundred clicks from Siachen. Into Turtuk, discovered secret air strips. Found the end of a rainbow. Watched little choppers disappear into mountain ridges. Watched Pangong Tso, change from blue to black to blue again. Got stuck in a land slide. Saw earth move. Move like she owned the place. Heard water roar. Like the deafening rumble of a thousand bass drums heaving on your home theatre in a tiny living room. Almost swept away on a dirt bike by a raging stream. Now a river. Pelleted by golf sized hail. Wandered out in the dark to save my motorcycle. Felt fear... Real Fear. Took a motorcycle to safety. Saw a non existent road right before it caught me. Returned to a refuge, drenched, cold and on foot. Sub zero temperatures. Soaking wet in weather proof gear. Felt cold. Real Cold. Camelbak's almost dry. Emergency food already donated. Felt exhaustion. Real exhaustion. Realised that it's 'all in the mind'. And the adventure had only begun.... Here are some of the pics.

Custom Plates

Necessity drives some of the best inventions. Here's a race plate from a Melamine tray.
I'd love to have one, but my mum would kill me!

PS: If you can guess where this pic came from, a free set of stickers are up for grabs.

Crash and burn

This is no Valentino Rossi post and this is definitely no MotoGP. It's real racing, real men and real roads. It's Guy Martin coming over Ballagarie, or Balla-airy, or Balla-scary as he calls it, at the Isle of Man. Senior TT: Hot Lap: 170mph or 272 kph

Martin comes over, he looks like a plane.

He loses the front end and goes up in flames

There's fire everywhere, even the bales are alight.

The man was on a hot lap, he's now on the medic flight.

Here now lie the mangled remains.

They ain't never going to put that rear wheel together again.

Now that's Guy in his Sideburn tee, telling us all that he's ready to go out and conquer Creg-Ny

Guy Martin's the real deal. A ballsy road racer who knows how to push the limits and does it without hesitation. He suffered scuffs, bruises, a punctured lung and  broken ribs. He was on his second lap in the Senior TT with the first being his fastest ever: 131.108mph. He'll be back racing at the Isle of Man in a couple of weeks. Says he's ' not sure how you can find the will to live watching day time telly, so whether it kills me or not im off back to work.'
Respect! BIG RESPECT!

What did you have for dinner tonight?

It was a collective effort when Avais had it hooked...

...on fresh water bait, little fishing rod and probably a 1lb line

Hinely cut, cleaned and cooked this 18-inch catch  in one of his fine fried southern recipes...

And me? I just ate. After i reeled her in to shore.
