Well of Death

Great video music video that could very well be a tribute to the 'Mela' and the last of the dying breed of Indian itinerants-the heroes in the Well of Death.

Basket Case

There's an engine in a basket and a frame at the painters... Another stroker, coming to life soon.

Two-stoked

There's been a lot of racing this weekend, so here's something to top it off. Nothing fancy, nothing like those new indie vids with a song to go along. Just an old school clip, lots of beautiful machines, lots of high revving engines and a brilliant soundtrack for every oil-smoking junkie out there.

Hardly Make Them Like They Used To

Not the Motorcycles...

And Definitely not the riders.

Layla: The RD Story

Bought this bike to go fast. And it looks like it does. Hell it really.
The bike's running with raised ports, RDDreams Digital CDI, RDD carbon fibre reeds, and a whole bunch of other goodies. All aluminium bits (rearsets, fork brace, filler cap and the like) built at home.
This bike used to look like this... Until a friend told me to get the cycle parts sorted :)

Build em... Ride em...Build em again

First built as a track bike, this motorcycle has slowly been put
together over the years and will now assume a more street
legal form. Some say barely...I beg to differ
Money is dwindling, but braided hoses are in order

I wasn't keen on the rear disc but they say it's 'unconventional' to
have an alloy and a spoke wheel on the same motorcycle. Maybe they
need to get out a little!! Or maybe i need to stick to my ways to
save myself the trouble

A 14mm Nissin master cylinder will put the brakes on the front.
Thank God the spares from Japan are finally getting used.

Timed, tuned and tweaked, this motor should be a whole lotta fun

Stay tuned to see how the build turns out, or if you're in the area,
swing by to see it, touch it or hear it. BRRRRAAAAAAAPPPPP
BRAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPP BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPP

thanks to Pablo for the great lenses, without which the pics would absolutely suck

Start 'em young....

Kr JR started young on his dad's OW48 and was credited not only to winning a 500cc World Championship but also to beating Honda's six-year winning streak. Only goes to show - if you start 'em young, you're gonna have a blast watching 'em grow.

Wall of Fortune

Who ever said walls were built to create divisions were clearly using it for the wrong purpose. I've meant to do this for a while and got down to it today. It's the wall in my garage with various auto-related paraphenelia i've collected over the years. There's a story of some sort to each of them, which much to your chagrin i've decided to pen down below.

The Race Seat: It was my first attempt of building my own race seat. It took me hours of thermocol carving and I've probably ingested my fair share of carcinogens. It last a track day and a year on the street till i decided to re-invent. Come to think of it, it's not yet past it's sell by date.

The YZR500: That's from a visit to the home of Yamaha in Iwata, Oct'07. I've got pics from the museum there, should dig them out for a later post.

The Fairing: That's to match the seat but there's an even more interesting story to that. This guy claimed to have a stash of RD parts and was relocating to the US. Hes was desperate to sell his wares, I wanted them. So i bought two pairs of stock silencers and he threw in two fairings for free. This is one. the other went to Dharmaracer in Bangalore. As for the guy who sold me the wares, he was arrested the next day on charges of theft, fraud and some other charges all related to motorcycle activity.

The Triumph Parking Sign: Was a gift from a frined who knew my passion for the brand.

The Sunbeam S7: That was a gift from the same friend who knew of my plans to buy a S7 and get it restored. May be i should hunt that bike down...

The Dirt Fender: From my 2009 trip to the Himalayas. It was one stonking ride with memories to last a lifetime.

Leaning over II

With this post some might call me a narcissist but I love motorcycles and I love when i'm on one. This is a series of pics that i especially like. Riding around with my buddy in tow, we weren't really scrapping, but it was great fun finally running amok on the track with him. All those years of carving through traffic on the daily commute had us just waiting for this. Sigh! I miss the good ol'days.

Leaning over

So as promised earlier, these are the real pics that i'd like to post of the Trackday last month. All pics are of me, i love the mohawk so if you don't, I'd like to know bout it. And then, put a sock in it. Yes, the knee sliders were placed in the wrong spot.

A lesson to be learnt from this pic is never try and pass an experienced racer when you're on a slower motorcycle. I now need a new pair of riding pants and have no money to buy them :( Donations to the usual account.
